Thanks Pete,

=20

It looks like I might go 3G then! If it is really bad I can drop down to
GPRS but I still won=92t need to pay extra.

=20

I now have my eye on the XDA Exec. Has everyone got theirs yet? Can I only
buy it with O2?

=20

Is everyone out of stock? Should I wait for the new SE990?

=20

The XDA does look big though. Is it large enough to type minutes on it? If
so I can leave my laptop at home! It does have built in GPS though does it
not?

=20

But it means I cannot control my itunes with it at home! Then I will need
t=
o
buy the Sonos equipment as well!!!

=20

Cool :-)

=20

Though I still think I will end up carrying a bag full of gadgets, why is
there not one that can do everything?

Yup, it's a corporate deal, though from what the O2 sales guys was telling
us, they have huge problems billing for GPRS usage, so I suspect almost any
data tariff with O2 is 'unlimited' until they fix their billing. That's
wh=
y
all the pre-Xmas promo's were featuring unlimited data.

If you really use it that much though, wouldn't 3G be a better alternative
(except it's crap outside of the cities, of course).

Pete,

I take it that this is a Company wangled deal though? - unlimited data at
=A323

That is exactly what I need - my GPRS bill is astronomical! I try not to
us=
e
it - but I just cannot help it, I might have to resort to getting a phone
with no GPRS capabilities!

Anyone have a cheap personal unlimited data deal?

Regards,

Ho yin

We're on the latest firmware flash (the handsets aren't tied to a network,
which is important, as the Orange firmware upgrades are always months
behin=
d
the 'generic' ones). Aside from GoodLink, we don't really have any other
apps on there, but they still crash - it's a fact of Treo life. The
annoying thing is when it dies, reboots itself, but doesn't turn the phone
back on - you only realise that when you go to make a call. There's even
apps available that solve that problem, which just goes to show that the
crashing is not unusual.

As a phone it's fine - the on-board speakerphone is also good enough to use
in a quiet office. It also works well with the Parrot Bluetooth car kits.
As a PDA, we use the GoodLink suite, so it's all OTA (Over the Air)
sync'in=
g
with the Exchange server - works a dream. I've dropped it once or twice,
and apart from the memory card pinging out, there's no problem with it.
Bearing in mind we've got 80 of 'em in the hands of mobile engineers, we've
only had 2 fail so far, and that was just because a button fell off.

Our deal is with O2 - as far as I know they still haven't fixed their
billing system, so can't actually charge for data on certain tariffs...I
know our tariff (something around =A323 per month for 750 min anytime/any
network mins, 50 SMS and unlimited data) isn't capped for data, but
obviously that's on a bulk corporate deal. And they threw a stack of cash
at us!

Pete
