depending on what servers you are ruuning terminal server is built in
windows servers and XP desktop these are free
otherwise VNC is also great. depending on your router configuration port
will have to be forwarded.

I've used https://www.gotomeeting.com/ before
and found it very easy to
use, fast and works through most firewalls and proxies.
Has a 15-day free trial which may just be enough!
