Hi Brian,

Just replied to your post on the forum. Here it is for the benefit of

s:

a) do you need a board for each light 'fitting' or could 1 board
controllin=
g 13 LED's be used in multiple fittings say 1m apart?=20

b) how are they powered? what could be used in an outdoor environment?=20

c) are people going to leave the boards permanently connected to something
=
for control or is it a case of programme and disconnect so that all you
nee=
d control wise is on/off?=20
=20

a) Depends on how many LED's in your 'fitting' - if it's 13 then 1 board
pe=
r fitting!!! I plan to have 1 board per 3-4m squared area and drive up to
=
13 LED's locally from that board.=20

b) not sure yet - I guess there are a number of options - have a
transforme=
r sited in a garage etc and run thicker cable to the boards (guage
dependin=
g on length of run). Or run mains to the boards and have a protected
transf=
ormer locally. I'd prefer the first option as it's safer.=20

c) I'll probably leave them permanently connected to my HA PC. Gerry - am
I=
right in saying that for advanced control, this is needed i.e. for anythin=
g but simple animation? My plan would be to have a wide range of modes
avai=
lable - Party, hot tub, white, any number of static colours, cycling etc.
M=
ost of these modes would be accessible from my hot tub or anywhere in the
g=
arden by using a keyfob (waterproof of course!) and I'd cycle through the
m=
odes. This would require the units permanently connected of course.

Paul.
