Tony,
you've got that all about right.

The issue with TV over CAT5e is that it is not possible! Each channel
has to be converted into an AV, composite signal with audio and then
passed down the cable.

The Scion system does this by supplying tv tuners with its system, the
others rely on external sources to provide it with an AV source. This
is why we tend to reffer to AV over CAT5e rather than TV, it stops the
confussion.

One of the other problems with these types of system is the IR
routing. Some systems (the Global AVLynx is to new to know) just pass
the IR signal through to all device connected on the system. This
means that you can not have all your freeview boxes from the same
manufacturer because a channel change instruction for one set top will
be received by all boxes and they will all change. What you need to
check for is a system that will route the IR to the specific device
your are viewing only.

Another issue when you start looking at the audio people that offer
video (Opus and QED) is the audio is not passed on the video part of
the network. So if you can not listen to the tv audio on your tv, only
via you ceiling speakers!

Some of these issues don't appy to Kat5 systems as that are single
source - multi point systems and as yet Keith has not released his
switcher / matrix.

The AVLynx and Scion boxes are proper (loose use of the term) matixies
, ie multi source - multi room. As is the Nexus from AV Nex,
www.avnex.co.uk

Hope that helps.

Chris

Sorry a bit of a long post!
