The problem is I dont trust my vigor at the moment
when I disable the firewall so I can trying traceing route
to myself - it still does not work. I am not confidient
with with it as yet. I am gonna try another router today
that I borrowed to see if that works.

I like the idea of the monowall - really interesting project

Why not use your Vigor with a back-to-back cable to the firewall nic?
(Or any other modem with ethernet presentation).
