[OT] ADSL Faceplates

I far, far away from the exchange, and have now got my ADSL installed, but
it only works if I disconnect all the extensions. (otherwise it says
"no dial tone")
If I replace the master socket with one of the NTE5 plates which separate
the ADSL before the extensions, should that help? Or do I need to look into
something else?
