The 2 wire sockets have a capacitor in each socket.

The 3 terminals on each krone block are commoned so you can put more wires
in
one socket.

Correct, but not all gear from the states will work since the rin is
different.
Modems are a pig to find one that works reliably

Old cable was 6 conductor, newer places are wired with 2 pair cat3 - most
builders put in cat-5 everywhere since the cost difference is minimal and
it
saves stocking 2 products. The change to twisted pairs is what drove the
change
to 2 wire, as it means that you dont have the 3rd wire outside the twist
acting
as an antenna for RF, plus noone has pulse dialing anymore so using the 3rd
wire
to prevent ringers chirping on dialing is a non-issue anymore.
