Switching speakers, hmmmm......

If SWMBO lets me, I've got this idea for lay-z-boy recliners with
inbuilt buttkickers, which will be connected via plug-in cables. I
dont want the buttkicker amp to be powered up unless there are
buttkickers connected.

So, the plot is to use four core cable, and Speakon four pole
connectors. Two cores carry the amp signal, and two are used as a
loop closed sensor. The speakon socket in the recliner has the two
sense poles looped together. When the connections are all made, a
relay will pull in, activating power to the amp.

Almost foolproof :-)

You could do something similar using a Speakon socket on the wall,
and a Speakon to bannana plug patch cable. Plus the speakers into
the wall, relay pulls in, sends audio to wall not ceiling.

Job done. Bill is in the post.
