Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for noticing our work.

The way the system works is as follows;

Firstly, that particular bedroom, the en-suite and the gallery form a
large open almost plan area. The bedroom doesn't have a conventional
height ceiling, it's open to the gallery above so effectively has a
double height ceiling.

>From an audio point of view each area has it's own speakers but because
of the open plan nature, sound will carry into the other areas to
varying extents. Technically, the bedroom has only one set of speakers -
the floor-standers you mentioned, the gallery above does have speakers
but these are laid out for maximum benefit on the gallery rather than in
the bedroom, so although you can hear them in the bedroom they would not
be useful as the primary source of audio there.

So, rather than having an either or situation for the bedroom, speakers
in each of the three areas are run from their own independent amplifiers
(Parasound and Crestron). Selection of which speakers are active at any
one time, and their independent volume levels, is controlled via the
wall mounted Crestron touch screens or roaming touch screen.

In summary, the three sets of speakers can be run in any combination
depending upon the area(s) the client is using and the effect that he
wants.

I hope this makes sense, if you have any queries or would like any more
information please get back to me.

Kind regards,

Nick

Subject: [ukha_d] speaker connections that can interrupt ceiling
speakers..??

evenin' list,

i've been reading about some rather swanky apartment that had speaker
connectors at the foot of the bed, so one could choose to add some, say,
floor standing speakers, however, i assume that if one were to add some
larger speakers, would this *cut* the supply to the ceiling speakers ?

sorry if this doesnt make much sense, its the case study on hiddenwires
- 'edge smarthomes' did the system..

so, my question, if one plugs in larger speakers to the afore mentioned
connector, is the signal broken to the ceiling speakers via some
automatic thing (yes, that is a technical term) or does one have to use
the home control system via a keypad or some other such device to
physically change from ceiling -to- large speakers.

i hope that makes sense.

if anyone could offer there thoughts, that'd be grand.

TIA,
Jonathan.
