Re: Kef Soundlight Speaker System

He he - if I put a sub in my ceiling I'd be sitting under a pile of laths
and plaster chunks in no time ;-)

Subject: [ukha_d] Kef Soundlight Speaker System

At the Homebuilding Show at Wembley a few months ago I picked up a
leaflet from a Kef reseller about the Soundlight system. This is 4 of
their mini in ceiling speakers and a subwoofer box that sits in the
ceiling void and directs its sound through 2 flexible tubes into
ports that look the same as the 4 other speakers. The idea is that
the speaker system blends in with the look of ELV halogen down
lighters that are popular these days. Apparently this system costs
about £300 retail.

I am doing a self-build at the moment and am worried about the sonic
range of these mini in-ceiling speakers, but a subwoofer would go
some way to make it more acceptable.

I have two questions, has anyone seen or heard of this product? a
Google doesn't return any results, I know I didn't dream it
because I still have the leaflet. Secondly, I read somewhere once
that humans are naturally attuned for higher frequencies coming from
above and lower ones from below. With the sub up in the ceiling, I
wonder how that would effect the listening experience. I know my gym
have Bose subs tucked up among the pipes and stuff in the ceiling
area and the noise is quite disconcerting. Has anyone got subs off
the ground, and does it sound ok?
