RE: [ot] how do I verify a bank draft

Bank drafts should be OK, as they are drawn on the issuing bank rather than
the persons personal account.

That said there have been cases of stolen bank draft blanks being used to
con the unsuspecting.

Your best bet is to take the buyer AND his bank draft to YOUR bank and pay
it into your account.
Get YOUR banks staff to phone HIS bank and verify the draft is valid AND
give you confirmation in WRITING.
You may have to pay a fee of =A310-=A315 but in this case I think it would
=
be
money well spent.

Hi,

You can phone the issuing back to determine if its real. I did this when =
I
sold my last car. The owner of the cheque may also need to be there to
verify his account details. Just find out who he is banking with and give
them a call to find out their exact proceedures.

Chris
