Neil,

Using a 240V capable SPDT relay (linked to a 12V PSU and an X10 Appliance
module - I know : but this is a retrofit) will allow the HA to control the
Water Heating, and the same again (but with a SPST relay) will control the
Central Heating.

The question is how do I get the 240V from the programmers 'hot water' and
'no hot water' into a SPDT relay to make it compatible with the HA control?
Are there relay which have the solenoid controlled by 240V?

Lee

Why not get yourself a Honeywell wiring centre with all of the terminals
marked - see http://content.honeywell.com/uk/homes/FAQ/wircenop.pdf
or http://tinyurl.com/674q7. You
can then follow the Honeywell wiring
scheme directly without needing to understand too much about why it's
wired
so confusingly, and simply replace the standard CH programmer outputs with
those from your HA controls. Use a relay with both N/O & N/C contacts
for
hot water control to provide the HW on & off signals and you'll then be
sorted. This approach also makes reinstating the original programmer much
easier when you come to sell the house.
