The only downside about using a TiVo with a DTT / Freeview box is that
because the Freeview box has to uncompress the picture to analoge and then
the Tivo has to recompress it then you do get quite a drop in quality.
Can I suggest that you take a look at the Thomson DHD4000 DTT PVR? It's
about =A3250 - has no subscription charges for the EPG. OK it's not as
"clever" as Tivo in that you can't do season passes and
suggestions but it
records the digital bitstream directly so picture quality is great and also
it has twin tuners so you can watch one channel whilst recording another
(i=
n
fact you can even record two channels whilst watching something that you
have previously recorded).
