I have the MS High Definition AV Pack on my Xbox and get 1080i Component
video to my plasma and Digital out via Optical out to my surround sound
setup, all of which works fine under XBMC.

You mean "MCE" Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

Not sure of minimum specs, but would imagine it would be better with a
decent P4.

If you want digital output then xbox is out.
