Call me a tightwad, but CBeebies and CBBC are the best children's channel
available and free on Freeview. The rest show adverts for expensive toys
every 5mins, which the kids are never going to have, but still get get
upse=
t
about the fact... We can tell when granny (who has Sky) has been letting
them watch TV due to the incessant bleating about new Sindy/Barbie/etc....
As an aside most Sky installers won't fit a dish much above head height
these days, to fit it to a roof gully you'll need a real installer, who

definitely charge you more than a =A31 for the install, which kind of
level=
s
the playing field with a new ariel. You can get stinking big aerials these
days (Telves?) that can be used inside a roof void, maybe with an amp, to
get Freeview.

Interesting - I live in Bath Spa and it seems that I need to spend =A3120=
.00
having a new ariel installed to get freeview. I currently have no ariel
on
the roof ( in roof void ) and I'd quite like to avoid installing a massiv=
e
ariel on the chimney. We have a double roof with a gully running
between -
perfect place to install a dish and no-one would know - house is listed !
Couple of other points - I have a Tivo (in attic) and 3 young children
(not
in attic at the moment) so children channels are a must. Does this make
one
solution better over the other ?

jeff,
I have both and it's a bit bizzare because not all channels are free
to both formats (i.e Sky Sports News is free on Freeview but
subcriber on Sky Digital). The Sky Digital seems to have generally
better reception but that's dependant on where you live (on the
South Coast the Freeview signal is notoriously weak).
