Gareth,
Telcanto on the PPC is very good - I've been running it since the early
bet=
a and it's very impressive (especially with the large collection you
have).=
Rock solid and fast too.
I have a 6 source source, 6 zone amp (Kustom) - you've probably seen the
pi=
cs before I think? Not cheap but the cheapest I could find a couple of
year=
s ago(=A31500 or so from the US). Works extremely well.
I posted a few times re the multi zone PC sound card drivers:
http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/
Work well on my W2K server (that runs all the HA stuff). Did recently
upgra=
de to 2003 server but haven't got the driver to work yet - I guess you're
n=
ot running server though.
An excellent alternative to multiple sound cards - and, yes you can run
mul=
tiple cards with no problems as well - as long as the software you run
allo=
ws selection of the card (the kx drivers show up as separate cards). I
thin=
k you actually get 4 x stereo pairs with most new sound cards like the
Audi=
gy etc (cheap now too).
I set this up with having multiple zones running multiple sources in mind
-=
in reality we have never needed 2 or more MP3 zones - but that all depends=
on how many in the house and their listening habits I guess.
Paul.
