I've heard this from several people (scrap software firewalls and let the
hardware do the job), the only thing that concerns me is that it's only a
matter of time before someone writes a worm that is UPNP aware and it opens
up ports for it's own use....

if your router supports upnp (it'll be somewhere in the configuration)
then you can let azureus use that to open and close ports as it needs
them, this is a seriously handy feature, as it keeps you even more
secure when your not running it.
