RE: [OT] Netgem freeview lockups and Tivo

The small red square on the screen means there's no signal (technically I
think it means it's lost the carrier stream). The signal coming from your
aerial may be on the limit of what the box can pick up.
It may be an idea to realign the aerial, check for obstructions (growing
trees etc) and/or re-terminate all the ends in the cable.

I have been using an old on digital box (pace I think) for ages with no
lock up at all and then the last 2 days it has locked up twice. At least
I assume it's a lock-up. The symptoms are a small red square on the
screen and if I power cycle the unit then it goes into menu forcing me
to do another channel scan. Of course if this is not a lock up and
someone can tell me how to get rid of the red square without re-scanning
then that would be great!

Hi All, Sorry this is OT but I am sure some of you here must use Tivo
with Freeview STB. I have bought a number of the Netgem/BT freeview
boxes and have been happy with them. I only recently added one to
Tivo and it seemed to be ok.

Got back from a weekend away and it has locked up so it did not
change channel when Tivo asked it to. This means it missed all of
SWMBO programs and I am in deep trouble.

I have noticed that these devices lock up quite a bit but it only
seems to be when they have a USB device connected. I have one with a
USB stick with photos for caller id and another with Ethernet an
connection.

Anyone else had this problem? Or can you suggest another STB that I
can use with Tivo with a bit more reliability.

Thanks in Advance.

Ian
