RE: {Spam?} RE: Re: ADSL router + wireless

I've got the DG824M Netgear (looks the same, just the 11mb version) and
it'=
s
worked faultlessly since day 1. I mainly went for it because it's the
recommended router by my IT dept, presumably because it's an all-in-one box
that you'd have to be fairly incompetent to set it up wrong. The config
i=
s
all done via a web interface, and it obviously supports wireless and wired
connections without any issues. I don't use it for site blocking, but
others I know do, you can set up sites or key words to be blocked via the
web UI. It's wall mountable as well, if you need to.

Still not worked out how to see my TiVo from outside though, but I'll get
there one day.

Lo Guys

All this talk of wireless has renewed my interest on the subject...
Could I have you opinions of the following please.
http://www.netgear.com/products/details/DG834G.php

<This 802.11g wireless router adds considerable power and flexibility to
your network. Five products in one, it combines an ADSL modem, router,
10/100 LAN switch, 802.11g access point, and SPI True Firewall. >

With it being a 5 in 1 kind of thing it would cut down on clutter in
Node 0

I've seen them for =A3105 somewhere, which seem to me to be a
"bargain"

Or am I missing something?

Absolutely.

When baby router manufacturers talk about VPNs, they actaully may=20
mean one of two things:

a) Their router offers VPN passthrough to some box inside your LAN=20
that erminates the VPN, or

b) Their router can terminate the VPN itself.

Option B (which the vigors do) is what you want.
