I don't really understand what you want to do - whether you want to
encode the analogue output from your hi-fi, or whether you want to
feed an mp3 stream into your hi-fi (decode).
Either way, the barix exstreamer may meet your needs. It just needs
an ethernet connection, and I'm pretty sure it can encode as well as
decode. For decoding, all it needs is a network connection so it can
pull music off a server somewhere -- but then, decoders are common --
Slimp3 et al will all do the same.
