Re: OT : Ceramic Floor Tiling

>>Topic now closed before we get bashed by the moderator

As it's the weekend and the message volumes are low! . . . . .. . . .. . .

Yup, I know it's alarmist about the cancer thing Rob but the flammability
issue is real.

If Ben happens to have his boiler in the kitchen (as many do) and the
boiler starts for HWS, ker effin boom! Same goes for switching on a light.

It *is* down to personal choice, as long as the person is fully aware of
all
the risks involved.

Ultimately, would the mopping up of a fairly large volume of glue with 10
or
15 litres of a flammable solution be allowed on a commercial site - I doubt
it because of the risks involved.

Why then should it be OK for a DIY'er to *take the risk* but not a
commercial company.

Nope!!, I stick by my original assessment - Do it with a scrabbler - Better
job and much much safer.

Regards

Neil

P.S Rob - Fancy a pint next time in your neck of the woods!! ;-)

Slightly alarmist Neil.
Yes Toluene / Xylene based products (And many other chemicals for that
matter.) cause cancer but we're talking a one of job and incredibly low
volumes.
You are right though that people should be aware of the health and safety
risks of all products.
I guess its down to personal choice and all DIY is a H&S issue.

>>LOL! It seriously plays with your brain that stuff

>>Remember that solvent soaked rags are also very flammable and in
fact the
vapour will spontaneously combust near heat (The vapour is the flammable
bit!).

Your all stark raving bonkers!!!

Not only are the thinners extremely flammable but it is also carcinogenic!!
If you don't blow your place half way to kingdom-come you'll die a horrible
death in a few years time from some untreatable carcinoma.

Not that I want to be alarmist or anything!!!!

I'd hire a scrabbler and do the job properly, even if it does cost a few
quid more.

Cheers

Neil

LOL! It seriously plays with your brain that stuff. My missus works in a
warehouse full of the stuff all day and that probably accounts for why shes
still married to me ;-)
