Thanks. It is worth knowing that there is no speed difference and that
the jacket consumes power. I think I'll go down the sd route; it will
save power and I will not need to buy a jacket.

I'm not sure whether you are talking about the ipaq end or the pc end.
If pc, why should this affect the ipaq battery? If you mean the making
the ipaq wifi compatible; it is built-in to the newer models ;)

I have a car charger which connects to the slot. I'd like a standard
jack one, because I could use it to charge my gps (expect another
thread about that soon)

I was thinking along these lines. The problem is, that I hadn't
realised I had an earphone socket! Where is it. I've looked but can't
find one. Am I being blind or have they disappeared from the new
models?
