Tivoftpd not working

Could any TiVo Guru help with a problem with tivoftpd?

I have upgraded to a 120Gb HDD (saving all recordings, left it
running overnight!) and have a working Turbonet card installed.

I used the CD iso from www.silicondust.com to install the Turbonet
drivers

I can Telnet and get a Bash prompt, but tivoftpd doesn't seem to be
working, the Win XP command line FTP program gives a connecting to...
then after a minute or so it says connection closed :-S

Starting tivoftpd manually via a bash prompt eventually gives the
response (can't remember exactly) tivoftpd NOT Forking ...

I put the HDD back into the PC and manually transferred tivoweb and
tivoftpd - tivoweb works fine but still no joy with tivoftpd

I have McFee internet security, and have tried disabling this and
opening all ports on the firewall - I have lso tried ftp from a
Win98SE box that has no firewall / AV software - still can't ftp into
Tivo

any ideas?
