Hi Malcolm.

We were very happy with our MV1000, but there are two real advantages with
the Geovision and a dedicated PC.

1. We have 10 simultaneous users in the building - every PC has a little
HTML App showing the CCTV images on them so we can see who's at the front
or
stores door etc. - The MV couldnt handle 10 uers it just ground to a halt.

2. I wanted the server to be either available via VPN or like the Geovision
at present available over the net - I never got the MV to do it - i could
access the pages, but it would just time out without loading bugger all. I
gave it up in the end. Though i know there are users that have successfully
acheived this.

Dean.

did the Geovision replace an Mv1000 set up? Care to say what the
advantages
this has over the Mv1000? I'm still using mine from last years 'bulk buy'
and quite happy with it - albeit with only 3 cams...

Paul

We are using the basic Geovision Card with 8 ports - think we paid
£120 on
special offer - frame rate is not fantastic but more than adequate.

You can look at it running here :-

Login in with user & password as UKHA - it will
be there for a limited time before i remove it.

We have 4 camera's permanently motion recording which seems to work great

… like the Geovision or AVermedia cards…

I’ve been using a home built Linux box and running ZoneMinder on it
for a
while. Never really got on well with Linux so am considering a move to a
Windows box (cos I just know it sooo well) with one of these multi port
cards.

However, I don’t want to spend an absolute fortune on the capture
card (like
£500) – so was wondering what the cheap 8 port Geovision card
is like? I
know it has pretty poor capture rates (20 fps for all cams) –
what’s this
like in reality?

Does the software have motion detection? Is it any good? If it’s set
to only
record triggered zones, the capture rate may not be such an issue –
does it
work like this?

Any help appreciated :-)

Paul.
