"Broadcom Corp claims to have broken the wireless speed barrier today
with the official launch of its new 54g MaxPerformance chipset that
reportedly will enable routers to reach 125 Mbps of throughput while
remaining compliant with other 802.11 wireless devices.

The current speed leader, the "Super-G" technology from Atheros
Communications, is capable of reaching 108 Mbps, according to the
manufacturer.

While the news of the Broadcom chipset was leaked in early December, the
official announcement of the chipset and its high-speed AfterBurner
technology was made here today at the Consumer Electronics Show
(CES)."
