Standby does two things, disables the video output scart and tells Tivo
that it's safe to start recording suggestions (and switches the TV off
if you have the Tivo remote programmed to the TV) It doesn't stop the
Tivo recording the 30 minute buffer or any other recordings. It could be
something to do with the fact that when the video is disabled, there is
no mpeg decoding requiring to be done.

When I do extractions, I have no problems with having things recording
and playing - I don't even have think about it!

I believe this is due to limitations in the Tivo's bus - remember it is
only a 50MHz processor in there. I don't know the exact details of where
the bottle neck comes in.
