Re: Re: [OT] Help with Tivo extraction...
Hi Phil,
As far as I'm aware, Tivo still records to the 30 minute buffer while in
Standby.
The only effect that putting Tivo into standby has is to shutoff the video
output circuitry, thus saving a tiny bit of power.
(Also, while in standby, Tivo can begin recording its suggestions
immediately rather than waiting for 30 minutes of inactivity).
As for why you're only seeing transfer rates of 10Mbps, I don't know.
Do you use router/hub...? Do the lights (if any) indicate that both devices
are operating at 100Mbps...?
Thanks,
Andy.

Last week I installed TyStudio/TyServer (it took a long time as I'm
a Linux newbie, so had to scour the how-to's) The first couple of
times I started the extraction, it slowed after about 30 mins of
programme data, then caused Tivo to reboot. I feared I'd botched the
installation somehow, but since then I've kept TiVo on standby
during extraction, and it's not crashed yet.
I have the Network Activity graph running during extraction, and the
transfer rate is about 10MBps. If I bring TiVo out of standby, the
transfer rate drops. I guess TiVo can't cope with recording to the
30 minute buffer and handling the extraction?
Also, can anyone tell me why the extraction doesn't go faster than
10MBpS, when TurboNET and my PC network card are 100MBpS?
Cheers,
Phil K

now it gives an error on startup (blocksize error or summat) and
causes the Tivo to reboot. Last night I tried TyStudio/TyServer and
it seemed to work initially but the Tivo would crash/reboot in the
middle of the copy. Also, the Tivo would become very unresponsive
during the copy (on the first attempt I tried to use it as normal
however on subsequent attempts I just had the Tivo on AUX bypass).
