What he said. Don't waste your time with the screw-on jobs, they're
totally pants. People on here will tell you "hey! screw-on F
connectors are OK!" Don't believe them. They are in league with the
Devil.

You should be able to pick up a crimp tool for way less than 40 notes,
although you get what you pay for.

There are a wide range of little convertor adaptoids for f type
connectors, e.g. f to bnc, tv male, tv female. I bought a job lot of
each and now just make up f->f cables and use the relevant adaptors.
