My problem (now 18 months ago!) was that the controller card was
knackered in a lightning storm, so I lost the whole array. Fortunately
everything of value was backed up, but I did lose some stuff I was
working on and it took a while to get everything up and running again. I
now no longer bother with raid but do have all clients on the network
saving to the server and the the server doing a nightly backup to
another box on the network. I am planning to extend this to do a nightly
backup to a server I have hosted in the US, but need to work out exactly
how to do it :-(
