I suppose it depends on the size of the house and what you want to do with
the system. I mean do you need a system that covers 6 zones + 2 sub-zones,
and do you want/need video distribution. Off course you need to know what
level of control you want in each room and if video is being handled too
will composite will do.

You probably have already looked at them, but in case you haven't check out
the [1] Opus 500 (which has a composite video option) [2] Russound CAV6.6
(which has capability for 6 zones and 4 sub-zones which can be split) [3]
LivingControl [4] Niles (similar to the Sonance kit IIRC).

Yep, would be inclined to agree with your comments on its limitations. As
you say its not cheap and *4* zones does limit it (Although you can stack
controllers. Expensive though!)

Keypads as you say aren't great! But they're one of few out their that are
UK gang size and have some nice finishes.

To my mind two of the nicest controllers on the market at the moment are
the
Xantech MRC88 (8 inputs) and the Sonance Harbour (6 inputs). The later has
the benefit of touch screen wall pads. BUT, both output Composite for video
which is so typical of US market kit. At least the Systemline box supports
the Kramer 4x4 S-video Matrix Switcher out of the box.

Have I missed anything else?

Many thanks

Rob
