Re: Security alarm to GSM connection
If you want dual path signalling then Red Care GSM or Dualcom are your two
options, these are the services normally offered by profesional installers
for Policed connections.
Dualcom works out cheaper as the tel line is monitored at the house end
rather than the exchange, it uses the vodaphone data network.
We currently charge £285 per year for monitoring.
If you want a guarding service to act as your first keyholder this can cost
up to £400 per year.
I have not yet found a NACOSS company using Comfort, its just too complex
and expensive for the average install, most companies will have their own
favourite, we use Scantronic.
When you check out local companies look carefully at the ongoing
maintenance
costs, some use this as a way to make up for a low install price, stay
clear
of the nationals.

Subject: [ukha_d] Security alarm to GSM connection
I am currently talking to a number of local security companies about
installing an alarm system. Before any suggest getting Comfort system, I
want connections to a manned control centre with police response, therefore
the system needs to be installed by a NACOS approved installer. I am
concerned that any competent thief (and we do have a problem with the local
travellers) will just cut the telephone wires. We are remote and it's very
obvious which is own line. I am therefore trying to get a system that can
work with a GSM phone. Does anyone know of a black box that will allow you
to use a mobile as though it was a normal telephone (ie via a BT socket).
You can get the BT Redcare system with a GSM option, however this costs
around £50 per month, but does include the monitoring service.
