Dean,

I dont think you *have* to spend cash to make yourself more secure, there
are plenty of *free* (as in speach, not lunch) tools about that will run
on windows and help you... there is also plenty to read online too.
If your box is only a small home brew server, i dont personally think its
worth spending more than nessary, you just have to be aware of what coluld
happen and keep an eye our for it.... which im pretty sure you now will!

Switching to apache, keeping an eye on firewall logs as well as regular
backups would be much cheaper (although a tad more hassel!)  If it ever
did happen again (hopefully not) you should be able to zip in last weeks
backup and get it back in a few hours (then figure out a fix!) .. of
course you have to be sure they weren't inside before the backup was
taken, or there could be backdoors... some back door ports dont open until
they are 'knocked' so they can be hard to detect!
