The +5V is the standby power that is used when the PC is switched off -
remember the non-latched on button???
I'd check what ampage this can supply vs. what the VFD needs, I'd guess it
should be OK, but best to check...

I have an old PSU salvaged from a PC, and at least one of the wires is +5v
when the PSU is plugged in, even though it isn't "switched on".

Is it safe to use this as a PSU for a Noritake VFD? I've plugged it in and
done a self test on the VFD

term?
