Re: AV over Cat5

I have been looking at something like this for a setup both at home
and my office.
I have looked at Keith's KAT5 modules and was about ready to order a
few from him, but the only issue holding me back is: how to pass IR
commands back to source equipment without the need to run additional
wiring and thus defeating the object of the whole installation.
I know that there are wireless alternatives - like the Powermid or
similar - but in my experience the range and reliability on these
devices tend to be a problem. Even though the quoted ranges may seem
adequate, the "ideal" conditions under which they are quoted, are
never available in practice. If anyone has a suggestion or has tried
IR extender devices with a good range (say 200ft on the same floor) -
I would be most grateful if they could let me know.

Thanks
