Tech This Year

Just read this from a Apple Newscgroup which is interesting

The 2GB G5 is nearly obsolete already:
IBM announced the 2.5GB chip and Steve Jobs promised 3GB in July this
year. The first few used G5's already have appeared in a few European
magazines and auctions. DVD burners have already progressed to 8x.
I bought my first CD burner jay back in the eighties, plunked down
$1200 for a 1x burner. I made a lot of $10 coasters. Now a 52x burner
is under $100 and blanks are very cheap.
Next year or even later this year Sony promised the Blue laser DVD
(30GB or more?) burner so movies don't have to be rendered. Or it is
intended for High Definition shows.
