Actually, that's incorrect. SMTP is indeed for transferring mail, however
POP3 isn't a mailbox standard. POP3 is a system for retrieving emails from
a mailbox. A mailbox standard, as I understand it, would be
mbox/Maildir/whatever microshaft sexchange uses for storing emails. Also,
PST files are a 'mailbox standard' (i'll not go into a rant about M$
standards) as they store the messages. POP3 just retrieves them from
wherever they're stored.
