A really good option (for laptops..etc) is www.nocat.net or if you fancy
fiddling www.openbsd.org with authpf - they basically require you to
login to the gateway before it'll pass any traffic for you (or specific
types..)
Eg - neighbours/randomers can get http only, unless they login when you
can give them other services..etc.

I run wireless and wired networks in parrallel.... Wireless in mho
shouldn't
really be used for high network throughput it's slow clumsy and what's
the
point of having a WEP password if you're gonna be using it that much ?
/me sniffs aashram's network and gets 128bit WEP key within 24 hours.
My wireless network at home is actually open but my router controls
tcp/ip
traffic that's my security.

keeps
freezing when - there is streaming or transfer of big data. I also think
it
is very slow when it is 128bit encypt mode. What would be a better
replacement. I was thinking on the lines of a netgear 55mb version ? any
recommendations. I use 5 wireless devices. I want something rock solid
reliable and fast if possible when encrypted.
