Thanks for the advice. I can see that there is no easy way of doing
the hall lights with a switch and pir. I suppose with a pir the switch
is not necessary, but I want them for technophobes and visitors!

I could disable the dawn message but I figure that could be useful
too, to decide if the lights should come on or not, whether to close
the curtains, etc. It looks as if I may need one pir to do pir and one
to do dawn on a different code!

The disadvantage that I see is that they are battery powered. How long
do the batteries last?

Are they movement pirs or occupancy detectors?
