Yes the serial port is available - it's spec is in the user manual. I've
used it and it works well as has a very simple command protocol. Nice
thing is that although the remote doesn't have a discreet
Composite/component select button (you have to toggle through
PC/Component/S-Video/Composite), you can select these via serial (also
may be discreet IR codes but I've not checked that one.
I've still to fully integrate the serial control with my HA system. I
think I'll be using ACE to control it as I also have a serial
controllable DVD and Amp (Onkyo) - HomeVision serial ports for each
would cost too much.

Looking at the Panasonic website, the specs say that it has a normal VGA
in
D-sub, but no DVI...
Also, I see the panny has a serial port for control as well... - is this
open to the user? - is the protocol available, does anyone use it,
etc....?
