I have 6 x 50w 12v lamps in my loungeroom but i have them on 2
channels ..personally i wouldnt put more than a 200w load per channel ..

Here in Aussie 1mm2 cable is rated around 10 amps so if similar in the UK
then having  2   1mm2 cables at each floor should allow you to add another
dimmer module later if required.....

I think the switches are quite reasonably priced at around $70.00
each..Also
the led feedback on each switch is handy....I wouldnt buy only single gang
switches as the 2 gang and 4 gang are only a few dollars dearer...In my
bedroom i only needed a 2 gang but used a 4 gang to give me 2 different
lighting levels ..bedroom fan and a master off for all lites........
