Try various resistor values in series with it.

Start with 1K and work down until it works reliably.

It may be OK with the 1K or it might be too weak.

Subject: [ukha_d] IR mini emitters and Sky+ box

I'm having a few troubles with controlling my Sky+ box (located in
Node0). I've got a couple of different makes of mini emitters including
some Xantech 283M mouse emitters. It seems that the transmitted IR
signal is too strong for the Sky+ box as it sometimes only recognises 1
out of 10 or so button presses when the emitter is directly over the IR
receive window. Moving the emitter about 15cm away improves the
recognition a lot.

I can't permanently position the emitter at this distance as the box is
mounted in a 19" rack.

Any thoughts on cutting the strength of the signal (using a resistor,
coloured film, different emitter etc)?

Thanks,

Paul.
