Paul,

A belated reply - apologies.

A few large-ish holes drilled around the edge, with some quite small holes
=
(say 2mm) in the square corners IYSWIM. Then it's a bit of elbow grease, a
=
small hacksaw blade and a fine file I'm afraid. You may want to make up a
w=
ooden support from plywood etc. with a rectangular hole just larger than
th=
e one you want to make in the metal. Line up the two holes and temporarily
=
tape the whole thing together. That way, you support the metal on
something=
substantial and don't risk bending it while filing. A final smoothing with=
wet, wet & dry paper will get rid of the file marks.

Alternatively, consider a Dremel / Rotozip. I've not tried them so can't
of=
fer and handy tips.=20

Any recommendations for a decent tool to cut a rectangle in the centre of
a=
reasonably flimsy metal panel (I guess it=92s less than 1mm thick)

Paul.
