Like a lot of insects, they do seem to be attracted to white or light
surfaces (when they're in the mood) - then they go seeking out dark awkward
little places (at which they're very good at). Maybe a light sticky bug
sheet?

Apparently some farmers are fighting them with a mite which eats them :-)

Paul.

They've been a pain for me too in the last 3 days. That would be a mixture
of hot weather, the fields that I have on two sides of my house, and the
need to keep windows open to cool down. They seem to get everywhere.
There's
a large number of dead thunder flies beneath the light bulb in my study. It
seems they are attracted to the light and then get killed by the heat. I
think I'm going to get a UV bug killer.
