Re: ALARM MONITORING COMPANIES WAS Re: Major panic last night

If you want Police response you will have to have the system maintained by
an approved installer who will arrange monitoring through their own ARC,
have a look at www.nacoss.org for a list of companies in your area.
If its a keyholder/attendance service you require then check out local
guarding companies, they will usually provide this service with signalling
via a simple speech dialler, not the most secure option but it keeps the
cost down.
As a matter of interest I have been installing alarms for 25 years and in
that time have never come across a domestic customer who has been broken
into after the system was installed, it may not be the case in all areas
but
around East Anglia an audible alarm is a very effective deterrent. Billy
the
burglar doesn't know what sort of alarm you have so long as the sounder
outside looks plausible, and will go for the easy option elsewhere. If you
are unfortunate to still get done then he wont stay around long with the
sounders going so lots of noise. A lot of people say to me "no one
takes any
notice of alarms" the burglar does, make sure you set the strobe to be
continuous and not to stop with the sounder after 20 min, if you come home
and its flashing you are pre warned that someone may be in the house,
everyone's worst nightmare. I have seen quite a few kids and mums
traumatised having come in from the school run to find someone standing
there when they open the door.
