RE: Major panic last night
Have a look at this -
http://www.pocketwatchsystems.com
The program is designed to give remote access to your pc via your mobile
(or such like device). I don't think it currently supports viewing video

So perhaps those using the likes of the MV1000 can dial-up their house
upon activation of the alarm and check the images of the connected
cam's.
I'm no expert on this software, but just met the guy Alex earlier this
week, who's the founder of the company. He's actually the nephew of the
woman who owned one of the first home automation company's in the
states, many years ago (about 20yrs ago IIRC), so he's very familiar
with the whole home automation thang.
Again, no affiliation, just thought some of you guy's would be
interested in it.

Subject: [ukha_d] Major panic last night
Last night I was about an hour away from home watching SWIMBO's Primary
School production (which was actually very good!) - Oh, and SWMBO is the
deputy head - not one of the kids!!!. In the middle, my alarm (Comfort)
rang my mobile to tell me my house was being broken into!
Listening to the alarm history told me that the hall and then kitchen
sensor had triggered close together. My dog was closed up in the kitchen
but I did wonder if she'd managed to get into the hall and trigger the
alarm (no other sensors had been triggered). I phoned the police but
even though two separate sensors had been triggered, they weren't
interested but asked me to phone them back when I'd found out what it
was (and no doubt caught any intruder myself!). Rushed back to the house
to find all was well and no sign of the dog having escaped (all door
firmly shut). Very odd - not sure what could have caused both PIR's to
trigger especially as we haven't had a false alarm in the year Comfort's
been installed.
This kind of incident brings several things home -
1) It's very frustrating not to have more info on what's going on
(still pictures to the phone would be good)
2) Comfort's alarm log is good but it would be better if it
collated the entries and presented them in a more understandable way
i.e. "hall PIR triggered, five seconds later kitchen PIR triggered,
five
minutes later and no further activations" etc. I'm sure this can be
done
with a bit of scripting and ACE?
3) SMS text with details would have been good - how can I do this?
4) It's all very well having a sophisticated alarm system but
unless you understand the alarm history entries in detail, you can't be
sure what's actually going on.
5) Having a plan for this kind of event is critical (especially
when the Police aren't interested)
Any ideas on how to achieve these would be good.
Paul.
