Hmmmm - I wasn't sure how this would work either but it is a classic case
of
"someone told me that" . . . . .

The idea put forward was that if you delete the mail from your account
before downloading it, it will result in a "bounce" being sent
back to the
originating server. Given that spammers rarely use their own servers and
wouldn't give a tuppenny about bounces anyway (they probably get millions a
day), I couldn't see how it would work either. I'm just fed up with 200+
spams a day and every little thing helps (desperate times deserve desperate
measures).

I take you point about alternate addresses and I will be sorting that over
the holiday
