Hi Neil

I cant understand technically how not downloading the emails is going to
stop the spammers sending you junk emails. If you do this all that
will happen is your mail box will fill up and prevent you from getting
any mail received.

Its actually very hard to prevent spam being delivered to your mail box,
but a couple of things you can do to help reduce it.

Have 2 email addresses one you use for posts to forums, you can get
lots of junk mail likewise from websites that need registrations.

You can if you ISP offers it pay them to filter spam for your domain.

Down load a third party client application to sit on your desktop / and
use outlook rules.

Depending on the mail server you have and the access you have to it you
could set up some reject rules on the mail server.

Deleting the emails or not downloading them wont get you taken off the
list, blocking the email from being received will eventually!

You could perhaps look and see if you can use IMAP as your mail
protocol? This would let you do that in outlook or what ever mail
client you use.

Hope that helps

Simon

Anyone got any suggestions for an "on-line" Email reader?

I want to be able to look at what's in my inbox on the server before
downloading the mails. I also want to be able to delete cr@p - sorry,
spam, before I download it. In theory, it should then be bounced.

I'm told that, again in theory, it will eventually reduce the number of
spam lists I'm on????

I was recommended JBmail but the damn thing keeps crashing so is pretty
much useless so has anyone any other suggestions?

TIA

Regards

Neil
