We at X use it extensively at own office in Solihull and have deployed it
at
one customer site.

I have a VoIP phone at home which I have used over the internet on my 1Mb
ADSL line with great results

The quality is good now but we did have a lot of issues with Cisco at the
start

We use ALAW internally as the codec and have played with ULAW over the WAN
but ALAW it best if you have the BW.

We have two Cisco CM platforms in London SW and then users are in Solihull
approx 80 people with no PABX on site. Outbound calls go via London as do
Inbound. SRST or failure of the CM is handled via 2 x I421 BT circuits
diversely routed via the two local exchanges

Hope this helps

Subject: [ukha_d] VoIP .. Does it work in the real world ?

Hi all,

I have been watching the various discussions on VoIP and general interest
in
packages such as Asterisk which have taken place on this list recently and
thought it was time to find out how people have been getting on.

Is anyone out there actually using VoIP ?

Are you using it over the internet ?

If so how do you find the quality ?

If you are happy with the quality would you consider using
internet based VoIP a viable replacement for traditional lines ?

What are you using in the way of hardware and software (& Codecs) ?

Any other comments or experiences you'd like to share or warn people about
:-) ?

I'm happy for people to email me directly, and I'll summarise if there's
any
interest.

Many thanks,

Mark
