When you decide which type of router you want - I have a few here that
are spare.
I've got -
Netgear RO318 8port Cable/DSL Security Router - doesn't have a built in
ADSL Modem, but does connection sharing NAT etc.
Netgear DG814 4port Router and in built ADLS Modem
Allied Telesyn AT-AR240E Router - Has a built in ADSL Modem, but only 1
cross over port to feed a hub/switch
The RO813 & AT have never been used, both bought in error :)
The DG814 has been in use for about 8 months, just swapped for a Vigor
with inbuilt VPN
If you're interested, or anyone else is, I'm open to offers.
Also have a 56k US Robotics USB Faxmodem - USR015633 if anyone is
interested
Dean.

Thanks for all the replies guys. One last question, are the routers with
multiple inbuilt ports just for ease of use. It seems cheaper to buy one
with just the one port and a separate switch. I already have a network
switch so I don't need the extra ports(famous last words) but I was just
wondering. Thanks again, Dave

You will see routers that say cable/adsl but do not have a modem built
in
- so no good for you. Choose a router that explicity mentions it has an
adsl modem in it, also check reviews at adslguide.org.uk
Something like this (which I have)

[ukha_d] Router question
.
Category:
I'm looking to buy a router so I can use the internet on my Fuji without
using vnc. My question is do all routers come with an adsl modem built
in. If not, seeing as I already have an adsl modem do I just buy a stand
alone router or is it better to buy a router with a built in modem
anyway and lose my stand alone modem. Thanks, Dave
