Thanks. I remember the review now you've re-posted the link.

www.unwired.co.uk still accept hardware orders, but as of January, only for
GBP 1000 +vat :-(
(bulk buy anyone ??)

Good news that it's reliable, stable & easy to setup - that's important
to me.
While my budget will stretch to "G" kit, I'm now nervous of going
that route with Tony's & Paul's experiences. In six months time it may
all be sorted, but I really need to buy mine in the next couple of weeks.

Do the Orinoco cards have a connection for an external antenna ?

This was utter crap.  But it was the fault of the card not the WAP11.

There are several version of the WAP11 - the latest having a nice web
interface to configure, rather than the USB of earlier models.

Apart from a few setup issues, I've found the WAP11 to be ultra stable and
reliable, and with the Orinoco cards it's range is excellent.
